The 1980 extended Odyssey throughout Japan, Thailand and China was the impetus that fueled Lynn's desire to pursue gems and minerals as her career path. Soon after her return, Agabashian enrolled at the Gemological Institute of America in route to receiving her degree as a Graduate Gemologist. Following in the well known footsteps of Johnny Springer, Lynn accepted the position at San Diego County, Gems of Pala world famous Stewart Lithia Tourmaline Mine as lead public Tour Guide. During the weekdays hats changed to processing, sorting and the evaluation of the mine's production as well as design, fabrication, sales, trade show arenas and PR. Lynn received her certification in underground mine safety instruction and frequently joined the crew during underground workings. From the mine to the mall she was intent on learning it all. Her employ at Gems of Pala assisted her studies and propelled the completion of required courses at GIA. In 1987 she advanced to the position of General Manager successfully running the out back compound until stonewalled by Pala Politic which impeded and ultimately brought production and tours to a screeching halt. In April of 1990 with her passion in tow, Agabashian set out solo. Hence, The Mine's Eye was born... |
